April 5, 2010

Dear Radiant Family,

I’m here at my desk on a beautiful Spring morning the day after Easter. The Son is shining brightly as I write to you, and my heart is overflowing with joy and gratefulness to our risen Lord Jesus for the glorious sense of His presence with us yesterday as we worshiped! Thank you for being part of another very special Easter season!!

Allow me to draw your attention to several important things just ahead:

  • The final semester of Disciple U (Wed. PM discipleship classes) begins Wednesday, April 21, with two electives: Basic Spanish II and The Book of I John. Again, I strongly encourage our church family to take part in these sessions to deepen our walk with the Lord, and prepare for service to others!
  • I am very excited to see so many new families and individuals attending RCL. We want everyone who comes to feel very much at home with us and so, I am asking everyone to please wear a name tag! All newcomers are invited to join the Pastors for a Get Acquainted Dessert this Thursday evening, April 8 at 7pm. This is always a very enjoyable time of connecting, sharing a little about Radiant, and of course…food!
  • On Sunday, April 18 at 9am during first service, we will have the next Connecting Points, a great way for newcomers to RCL to find out how they can get involved in the ministries and activities of our church, and also connect with other “newbies”.
  • The next Discover Radiant New Members Class is scheduled for Sunday, April 25 at 9am, also during first service. This meeting is for those who are interested in learning more about becoming a member of our church. A Pastor, an Elder and a Trustee will share the core values, the tenets of faith, the leadership structure and basic financial information with those who attend.
  • Please keep the following Missions Trips in your prayers: Nicaragua Choir Trip, May 1-10; Redbird Trip to Appalachia, May 16-22; Uganda, May 22-June 1; Nicaragua Summer Trip, June 20-29; Belize (CFI), November 10-20, 2010.
  • The Women’s Bible Study began a new series, One in a Million, by Priscilla Shirer on Tuesday, March 23. This inspiring and instructive course is available at 9am and 7pm on Tuesdays.
  • Anyone who desires to follow the Lord into the waters of baptism at the next Water Baptismal Service, May 16, 3pm at Central Christian Church, please notify one of the pastors by filling out the form on the Information Counter, follow this link to sign up online, or by calling the church office. I would like all our RCL family to come out and support those who are making a declaration of their faith in Christ!!!

There are many more wonderful and exciting things I could share, but I’ll close for now by saying I am truly humbled and grateful to serve as senior pastor of this precious family of faith alongside such a dedicated staff and so many gifted people who love the Lord and His church!!

In Christ’s love,

John Cernero

Sr. Pastor
